Discover Lake Geneva

A hundred years ago, the three volumes of François-Alphonse Forel’s monograph Le Léman were successively published, a work which for many decades was an authority in various fields of limnology, or the science of lakes. Celebrating the publication of this book was the aim of the exhibition Découvrir le Léman, presented at the Musée du Léman and the Musée romain. In the “Préhistoire lémanique” section at the Musée romain, F.-A. Forel’s scientific activity as an archaeologist was confronted with the evolution of scientific methods that have benefited our knowledge of prehistoric coastal villages over the last twenty years.
